Karen Renee Blankenship, 52, Johnson City passed from this life at her residence and walked into the loving arms of Jesus in Heaven on Thursday, April 23, 2020. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. Karen was a 1987 graduate of Daniel Boone High School and attended Boones Creek schools and Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. She was very special with a strong Christian faith and often put the needs of others before her own even though her own life had seen hardships. She loved exploring at yard sales and thrift stores along with her brother. She inspired everyone she knew and she will be missed by many. Karen was preceded in death by her grandmother, Buena Rogers and brother, Steve Blankenship. Surviving her is brother, Andy Blankenship of Johnson City; special friends, Haynes Carr, Steve and Debbie Carr, Amy Millhorn Leonard, Donald “Gomer” Feathers, Pam Hurd, Sheri Strickler Sneed, Patricia Barnett Chase, Yvette Bussell Chase and Christine Bryant. Graveside services for Karen will be conducted at 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 28, 2020 in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Carver, Steve Pate, Anthony Hurley, Donald Feathers, Terry Lowe, Gary Carr, Gary Carr Jr. and Byron Barnes. Karen was a very special lady. I enjoyed knowing her for over 36 years and will miss her terribly. We had many long talks and I was always inspired by her wisdom and strength and her view of life. She had such a sweet soul and was so giving to others and always thought about putting others above herself.
I take comfort in the fact she is with her grandmother and brother and safe in God's Heaven. She is, and always has been, a "Shining Star" to anyone who knew her. God Bless Her!

I am so sorry to read of Karen's passing. I remember her well from Boones Creek and Daniel Boone. She was always so kind and friendly. Prayers for her family!

Andy, we just wanted to let you know you are in our thought's a prayer's. Just seem's like yesterday me and Veronica was coming up to your all's house and we were running around the front yard and sitting under the what seemed like a" BIG" tree back then just talking and eating supper with you all sometimes. Mrs.Roger's was such a good cook. We made some good memories growing up. Was sadden when we heard about Karen but she is in the arm's of Jesus now with no more pain. She will be missed but Andy, just put your faith and trust in Jesus he will help you during this difficult time and just know we are praying for you! We love you!
