Zella Altilee Hicks

Mrs. Zella Altilee Hicks, 99 of 127 Bell Avenue, Piney Flats went home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 4, 2013 in the Four Oaks Health Care Center. She was born November 24, 1913 to the late Reece and Cordie Childress Milhorn. Mrs. Hicks was a native of Piney Flats where she spent most of life. She was a charter member and the oldest living member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dee F. Hicks in 1989; a grandson, Robert Christian in 1995; a sister, Mona Larmer and a brother, Raymond Milhorn. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Christian of Piney Flats; two sons, Jimmie Dee Hicks and wife, Diana of Piney Flats and John B. Hicks and wife, Patsy of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Juanita Carty of Johnson City and Virginia Combs and husband, Clarence of Bluff City; two brothers, Ivan Milhorn and wife, Margaret of Bluff City and R.B. Milhorn of Bristol; seven grandchildren, Jason Cross, Susan Christian Patton and husband, Billy, Gary Christian, John Hicks, Candy Peterson, Tim Hicks and Jamie Cross; eight great-grandchildren, Emily Hicks, Jessie, Sarah and Olivia Peterson, Brian and Christy Hicks, Chris Christian and Malcolm White; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Callie; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Hicks will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in the Piney Flats First Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Davis and Rev. Reed Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in the Poplar Ridge Church Cemetery in Piney Flats. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the church Wednesday by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made in her name to Piney Flats First Baptist Christian Life Center building fund, 100 Cherry Street, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
