Wilma I. (Proffitt) Barnett

Wilma I. Barnett, 90, Johnson City passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 in the Agape Nursing Center, Johnson City. She was a native of Carter County and was a daughter of the late Raymond and Nanny Nave Proffitt. Mrs. Barnett was retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital. She loved to cook for her family and playing Bingo and going to see Elvis. Mrs. Barnett also loved flowers and hummingbirds and made the world’s best biscuits and gravy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Barnett in 2016 and a great-grandson, Ethan Barnett. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Allen Haney of Johnson City; her son, Danny Barnett of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Charles Ashley Barnett and wife, Carissa of California, Lindy Krickbaum and husband, Phil of Johnson City, Bevin Dickson and husband, Jason, Johnson City, Heather Scheel and husband, Christian of Bristol and Sabrina Haney of Johnson City; three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Evan and Aidan Barnett of California; a special niece, Marilyn Lee of North Carolina; a friend, Clara Ray of Johnson City; also several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mrs. Barnett will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Chaplain Alan Evans officiating.
