William C. McDaniel

William C. "Bill" McDaniel, 69 of Johnson City went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, July 25, 2015. He was a son of the late William McDaniel and Virginia Umbarger Honeycutt he was born in Macon, GA on March 9, 1946. Bill worked hard to provide for his family. He worked for many years with Sherwood Chevrolet until he started his own wrecker and towing company. Bill spent his leisure time watching movies and was an expert on the old classic movies. He was an active member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church serving as a greeter and an usher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Rose Umbarger and a brother Pete Umbarger. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Evelyn Smith "Lynne" McDaniel; two sons, William "Bill" McDaniel and wife, Sherrie of Jonesborough and James McDaniel and wife, Barbara of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Holly, Jamie, Elijah and Jessica; two great-grandchildren, Kylee and Benjamin; two brothers, Phillip and Jeffrey; two sisters, Norma and Deborah; also many nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral services for Bill will be conducted at 12:30 PM Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Bill McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Other times at the home. Graveside services will follow in the Archer Cemetery, Jonesborough. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 353 Cedar Grove Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
