William "Billy" Duncan 48, 2928 Watauga Road, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, unexpectedly Wednesday September 2, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was a native of Johnson City and was the son of Dr. William Duncan and Carolyn Veach Duncan of Johnson City. Billy was an employee of Essilor Southern Optical. He was a member of the Bluff City Baptist Church where he served as the pianist. Billy was an accomplished musician and was a 1985 graduate of Daniel Boone High School where he was the pianist for The Reflections Choir. He loved animals and birds of all kinds. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude and Ovdia Duncan and his maternal grandfather, William L. Veach. Survivors in addition to his parents include two sisters, Becky Duncan of Apex, NC and Angie Duncan Marshall and her husband, Russell of Johnson City; his maternal grandmother, Lucille Veach of Johnson City; three nieces, Amber and Aleigh Lewis both of Apex, NC and Abigail Marshall of Johnson City; a nephew Noah Marshall of Johnson City; several aunts, uncles and cousins; also his companion and friend, his dog Prissy. Funeral services for Billy will be conducted at 7:00 PM Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Rev. Michael Carrier and Dr. William "Bill" Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 7, 2015 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM. Visitation: Sunday September 6 2015 - 5:00 to 7:00 PM Services: Sunday 7:00 PM Interment: Monday September 7 2015 - 10:00 AMN
