William Bennett

William (Bill) Bennett, 86, formerly of 800 Orleans Street passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Asbury Place, Johnson City. He was a native of Unicoi County and was a son of the late Will and Geneva Horton Bennett. Mr. Bennett retired from the Johnson City Eye Hospital in maintenance. He was a member of the Keystone Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Vest Bennett; a son, Larry Dale Bennett and a brother, Walter Bennett. Survivors include a sister, Geneva Salzts, Unicoi; cousins, Evelyn Ford and husband, Frank, Gray, Rita Martin and husband, Michael, Elizabethton and Sally (Becky) Lester and husband, Kelvin of Elizabethton; extended family members include, Helen Horton, Connie McKinney, Lisa Grindstaff, Judy Mermon and David Horton Head and wife Kathy; also several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Bennett will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Greer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 PM until the service time. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 19, 2011 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Asbury Place and Anna Lee and Jimmy Combs.
