William Jefferson Barksdale Jr.

William Jefferson Barksdale, 89, of Johnson City passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at his residence. He was a native of Roanoke, Virginia and was a son of the late William and Thelma Journell Barksdale. Mr. Barksdale retired from the V.A. Medical Center. He was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Warrick Barksdale in 2003; a half-sister, Elsie Wilcox. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Crockett and husband, Brian of Johnson City; a grandson, Johnathan Crockett of Johnson City; two brothers, Louis Barksdale of Atlanta and Calvin Barksdale and wife, Brenda of Roanoke; two sisters, Nadine Sublette of Roanoke and Deanna Avery and husband, Dale of Greensboro, NC; also several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services was held Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Condolences may be made online at www.wadugger.com.
