William James Ashley

William James Ashley, 66, 705 N. Main Street, Elizabethton passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 in the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center. He was a Carter County native and was a son of the late Jarvis and Mary Kate Hatcher Ashley. Mr. Ashley was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked many years with Leo's Pest Control. Mr. Ashley was a Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Master Sergeant Charles A. Smith. Survivors include a son, Scott Ashley of the home; a sister, Carlene Silliman of Kingsport; four nephews, Michael Smith, Sacramento, CA, Doug Smith and Keith Edwards of Elizabethton and Terry Smith of Johnson City; two nieces; several great- nieces and nephews; his ex-wife and special friend, Gayle Ashley of Johnson City; six brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law. Graveside services for Mr. Ashley will be conducted at 1:45 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Guard Detail.
