Walter Wayne Witt Jr. 56, 100 W. Poplar Street, Johnson City passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital in his wife's arms. He was a native of Harlan, Kentucky and was a son of the late Walter and Margaret Witt. Mr. Witt was a Christian and was employed as a lab technician for East Tennessee State University. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest and Don Witt. Survivors include his loving wife, Diana Widner Witt of the home; three sons, Joey Howington and wife, Margaret of Johnson City, John Howington of Myrtle Beach, SC and Walter Wayne Witt III and wife, Ivy of Johnson City; three daughters, Sherry Broyles and husband, Chris, Keawana Guinn and husband, Randall and Misty Taylor and husband, Jason all of Johnson City; three sisters; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Witt will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Scott Thompson officiating. Special music will be provided by Kathy Thompson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
