Virginia Lee Ball

Mrs. Virginia Lee (Memaw) Ball, 85, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 in the Lakebridge Health Care Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. Mrs. Ball was a daughter of the late Calvin and Ida Mae James Rogers. She was a member of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. Mrs. Ball enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking for her family and loved watching television comedies. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Ball in 2002; a step-son, Wallace E. Ball; two brothers and seven sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Linda J. Peterson of Jacksonville, FL and Nancy F. Depriest and her husband, Lewis of Johnson City; three sons, Richard D. Ball and his wife, Clair of Homestead, FL, Calvin D. Ball of Johnson City and Jerry A. Ball of Telford; two step-sons, Raymond E. Ball, Augusta , GA and Edward L. Ball of Washington; a step-daughter, Joan Klinefelter and her husband, John of Dayton Beach, FL; a special niece, Carol Strickland of Johnson City; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. Also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Ball will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold McNabb officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. McNabb. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Louis E. Depriest, Kelly L. Depriest, Jamie L. Depriest, Larry D. Ball, Raymond E. Ball Jr., Calvin D. Ball Jr., Jason Ball and Jeremy Ball. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Lakebridge Health Care Center for the wonderful care they provided.
