Vernon White

Mr. Vernon White, 85, 2530 Watauga Road, Johnson City passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a son of the late Mack and Birdie Swanner White. Mr. White was an auto mechanic and had worked for Sears for over 30 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lennes Pilkington White in 1990; also several brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Foss of Johnson City; two sons, Johnny and Russell White; seven grandchildren, Craig Foss, Angel Maupin, Amanda Huffman, Heather White, Audra McKee, Brian and Amber White; thirteen great-grandchildren; a dear companion and friend, Iva; also several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mr. White will be conducted at 2:30 PM Monday, August 5, 2013 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Chatman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM then go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
