Thomas Earl Earp, Sr., 73 years young, of Johnson City, TN. has made his journey to be with his Lord and Savior. He left this world surrounded by family on Saturday, July 7, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Thomas was a faithful and lifetime member of the Johnson City Church of God, and loved his “Collins brothers and sisters.” He retired from the State of Maryland as a Stationary Engineer, and moved back home to Tennessee after his retirement. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue Earp and a son, Thomas Earl Earp Jr. He was the son of the late Howard William Earp and Clara Ruth Arnold Earp, and grandson of the late George Calloway Earp and Nealie Alice Trivette and James Claiborne Arnold and Mabel Patience Dykes. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Cathryn Walker Earp; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Runion and husband, Michael of Jonesborough; a son, James Wyatt Earp Sr. and wife, Julie of Essex, MD; seven beloved grandchildren, Stephanie, Joshua, Emily and Kaitlyn Runion of TN and Alicia, James Wyatt Jr. and Juliana Earp of MD; as well as one very special great-grandson, Malachi Chase Ellis. Thomas is also survived by his loyal and dedicated brother, Leslie and wife, Cheryl Earp and sister, Bonnie Huffman of Johnson City; also many nieces, nephews and cousins; He also leaves behind his beloved pet dogs Coco and Princess and cat Sweetie Pie to be cared for by Mary Earp. Funeral services for Thomas will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. C. Bryant Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the service hour. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James W. Earp Sr., James W. Earp Jr., Mike Runion, Josh Runion, Shawn Ladd and John Mark Overman. In lieu of flowers the family asks for those able to do so, any donations to the family to help with medical and funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated. Tom has been my friend and neighbor for fir 63 years. He was a good man and loved life.
His pups and cat was his joy.
His wife and children and grandchildren were his happiness. Rest in peace my friend.
We love you very much, Rest In Peace, We will see you again one day. ??

i met tom about 10 years or so ago when he would come to mcdonalds for coffee. this man made such an impression on me. my heart broke this morning when i saw this in the paper. i want to send you all my condolences for loosing your father, husband, sibling. he was a great man and was loved by all that met him
