Sidney Allen Payne Jr.

Pastor Sidney Allen Payne Jr., 74, Jonesborough passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a native of Blackwater, Virginia and had lived in Jonesborough for the last 21 years. Pastor Payne was a son of the late Sidney Allen Payne Sr. and Mary Mowdy Myers. He retired from Alcoa in Elizabethton; He was a warrior in God’s army for 32 years and was the Pastor of God’s House in Bristol for 18 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beautiful wife and best friend of 42 years, Mary Morgan Payne;  a daughter, Pamela D. Carrier; a brother, Alfred Hill.Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Payne and Nichole Payne both of Jonesborough; a brother, Jimmy C. Payne of Virginia; grandchildren, Morgan Woods of Greeneville, Jason Simpson of Kingsport and Richard Lathen of Jonesborough; great-grandchildren, Elijah Sidney Story and Amber Kathleen Story whom he had a very special bond with; Cadence Anglin, Levi Woods and Mason Woods; also several nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Thursday, September 19, 2019 in God’s House Church, 50 Cliffwood  Drive, Bristol, TN 37620 with Evangelist Herman Williams and Preacher Eddie Booher officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 20, 2019 in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Eric Whittemore, Dennis Hodges, Floyd Sullins, Frank Sullins, Clayton Rose, Kenny Nelson, Richard Lathen and Elijah Story. Honorary pallbearers will be all of God’s House members.
