Shirley "Jeanie" Torbett

Shirley “Jeanie” Torbett, 76, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Cornerstone Village. Jeanie was born to the late J. Norman and Francis (Daniels) Torbett in Baltimore Maryland on July 3, 1944. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Jeanie loved her family very much. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Jeanie loved the Lord very much and was a dedicated Christian woman. She was a special education teacher for many years in the Johnson City and Erwin School Systems. Jeanie was also on the staff of Faith Home in South Carolina from 2014-2017. She was an ETSU graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in education and a graduate of The University of Tennessee with her Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing. Jeanie is survived by her children, Tracy Lagerblade, Ann Lindsey Crumley, and Chad Crumley and wife Courtenay; grandchildren, Spencer Lagerblade and Blake Bradley; sister, Ann Crutcher and husband Randy; brother, Tom Torbett and wife Polly; along with five nephews. The Torbett family will gather to greet friends and share memories on Monday September 28, 2020 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home from 11:00am-1:00pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm with Rev. Eddie Bledsoe officiating. A Graveside Service will follow the Funeral at Edgefield United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ryan Crutcher, Andy Crutcher, Craig Matherne, Tommy Torbett, Lance Torbett, Hanes Torbett and Chad Crumley will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Spencer Lagerblade, Blake Bradley, Tom Mckee, Jack Williams, Carl Young, Rod Biosca, Alex Williams, and Randy Crutcher. In lieu of flowers the Torbett family has requested that donations be mad in Jeanie’s memory to Westminster Presbyterian Church. 2343 Knob Creek Rd. Johnson City, TN 37604.Read Obituary
