Sherry McKinney Yarbrough

Sherry McKinney Yarbrough, 50, Johnson City went home to her Heavenly Father, Thursday, June 11, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a daughter of Lucille Hilton McKinney of Jonesborough and the late Richard Ira McKinney. Sherry was born on November 30, 1964 in Johnson City and lived in Myrtle Beach, SC for twenty years, where she worked as a waitress at various places, with her favorite being the Garden City Pancake House. She graduated from David Crockett High School and attended Halls High School, where she was voted class favorite. Sherry loved her family and friends and loved making them happy with her bubbly personality. She also loved the beach, art and cats. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Terry McKinney Green. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, Kenneth Yarbrough; a daughter, Jessica Knight and husband, Trevor of Gray; a son, Tyler Yarbrough of Johnson City; a brother, Mark McKinney and wife, Jenny of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Karen McKinney of Jonesborough and Frenda Gentry of Jonesborough; a brother-in-law, Michael Green of Piney Flats; her father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Charlotte Yarbrough of Bristol, TN; a brother-in-law, Keith Yarbrough and Sharon McKay of Connecticut; a sister-in-law, Karen Truluck and husband, Donnie of South Carolina; a nephew, Nicklous Green; a niece, Julie McKinney and a step-niece, Tara Williamson. A memorial service for Sherry will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor Trevor Knight officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Sherry's name to the Rock Heritage Baptist Church, 4838 Fort Henry Drive, Kingsport, TN 37663.
