I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Ruth Honeycutt Greer, 87, 118 E. Market Street, Johnson City passed away at Sycamore Shoals Hospital Saturday, May 19, 2012. She had been a resident of the Elizabethton Health Care Center for several years. Mrs. Greer was a daughter of the late Julius and Mary Frye Honeycutt. She was a native of Virginia but had lived in Johnson City most of her life. Mrs. Greer was the last surviving member of her large family. She had worked for Jones-Vance Drugs, Baxter Pharmaceuticals and Leon-Ferenbach Corp. Mrs. Greer was a loving mother and grandmother and loved her family and God with all of her heart. She was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus in Johnson City. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Claude, Robert, William and Carter Honeycutt; three sisters, Lillian McPeak, Francis Cox and Mildred Honeycutt; she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Weaver, Robert Ward Crowder and James Glenwood Greer. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Stephen Weaver and his wife, Janice, Timothy Crowder and his wife, June and Jim Greer and his wife Sarah all of Johnson City; a daughter, Elizabeth Greer Treadway and her husband, Craig of Jonesborough; eleven grandchildren, Keith Smith, Cynthia Smith, Jessica Crowder, Jacklyn Crowder, Daniel Estep, Jimmy Greer III, Ashley Greer, Deanna Greer, Brian Weaver, Michael Estep and Air Force Staff-Sgt. Joseph Scott Weaver in Eagle River, Alaska; eight great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Chambers, Kaylee Sawyer, Joseph and Zachery Smith, Hunter Crowder, Khloe Crowder-Hughes, Ashton Estep and Kierstin Greer; also several nieces and nephews. The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Greer will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with the Rev. Jackie Cole and Rev. George Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Burial will be Thursday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Smith, Joey Weaver, Brian Weaver, Jimmy Greer III, Daniel Estep, Craig Treadway, Johnny Tipton, Shawn Hughes and Chris Davis. The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and entire staff of the Elizabethton Health Care Center for the wonderful care they provided.
