Ruth Evelyn Clark, 81, 2012 Sherwood Drive , Johnson City passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the Appalachian Christian Village. A lifelong resident of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Jacob Clark and Ora Easley Clark. After graduating in the "top ten" of her class at Science Hill High School, she took her undergraduate degree at East Tennessee State University, following in the footsteps of her father, a member of the Normal's first graduating class in 1914. Ms. Clark was a talented organist, she went on to receive a Master of Music Degree at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and also studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, She was an organist for many years in Johnson City and the surrounding area, and many churches were blessed to hear her play. Ruth was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Margaret and more recently, Mildred Clark, who selflessly devoted herself to caring for Ruth in her later years. She is survived by a nephew, Dr. Bruce C. Brasington of Canyon, Texas; also her church family at First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City. A graveside service for Ms. Clark will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, April 24, 2015 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Louis Imsande officiating.
