I remember when I was in 1st grade at Keystone Aunt Ruby would braid my hair for me before school & brush it out before Dad picked me up to go home. Had big head of hair after brused out. Mom would beat my butt & swear she going to walk to granny's & whoop Ruby's too. Mom liked Shirley Temple ringlets Yukon! Somehow I got one of those sample tubes Avon lipstick, took it to school got it all over myself. & yellow dress. Aunt Ruby to rescue she washed the dress & ironed it dry before Dad picked me up to go home. Aunt Ruby was a trooper, hard worker & strong. Loved my Aunt Ruby. "Tell Dad & Mom hey up there in heaven, see you soon" Love Treina

Aunt Ruby there's memories flooding this ole head of mine. I just realized I always thought she was grown up but she was only 10 yrs older than me. Another saving my bacon memory is she, me & Daddy were coming back from New Port to JC on bridge crossing river in Dandridge when somehow in middle of bridge the door on passenger side of car flew open I fell out, Aunt Ruby hanging onto me & Daddy grabbed her by dress tail till he got stopped. Mercy lucky me. Didn't see Aunt Ruby much after 3rd grade when mom decided I could ride school bus to Happy Valley & not go to Granny's & Keystone. Bummer, I did bout all I could think of to turn that around but it never worked. Sure missed Aunt Ruby & Granny. Missed going down town to Liggett Rexall Drugstore where Aunt Ruby worked at soda fountain, coke cola served over tiny little ice cubes what a treat. Aunt Ruby spent her whole life taking care of family members & I sure am glad she took care of me. Whatever it took she was a fighter, literally she'd fight like wild cat for what she thought was right. Rest well Aunt Ruby you gave life a good whack.
