Ronald "Ron" Fannon, 72, of Elizabethton passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 in the Wexford House of Kingsport. He was a native of Washington County and was a son of the late Geter and Lois Conner Fannon. Mr. Fannon was a graduate of Elizabethton High School class of 1961 and a graduate of ETSU. He was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After service he started working for the Pharmaseal Company then owned and operated Fannons Market in Johnson City. Mr. Fannon then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Watauga before retirement. He was a member of the Pinecrest Baptist Church and also attended Fairview Baptist Church in Watauga. Mr. Fannon was a past member of the Civitan Club and past-president of the Optimist Club of Erwin-Unicoi. Survivors include is wife of 50 years, Sue Barham Fannon of the home; a daughter, Wendy Treadway and husband, Shawn of Flag Pond; a son, Brent Lee Fannon of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Chandler Fannon of Sulphur Springs, Conner Fannon of Johnson City, Jackson Treadway of Flag Pond and baby Harrison due in January; special friends, Bernie and Helen Gray, Carl and Jenny Rogers, Stan and Felicia, Katherine Goodwin, Sandra Eller, Smitty the barber, Lee and Carolyn Shipley, Larry and Johnnie Crumley and Dr. Jan and Carolyn Dewitt; also many other friends and cousins. Funeral services for Mr. Fannon will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, October 29, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Kenneth Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Potter, Jerry Bowers, Wesley Myers, Johnny Crumley, Jimmy Maupin and Tim Maupin. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 PM to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care to the Wexford House of Kingsport and to the Doctors and staff of ICU and the step-down ICU of Holston Valley Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Haven of Mercy Ministries, 123 W.
