Roland B. Mashburn, 88, Johnson City, died Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Durham-Hensley Health & Rehabilitation, Chucky, following a period of declining health. Roland was an Erwin native, and lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Porter Crow and Hachita Helen Jones Mashburn. Roland was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, where he served during the Korean War with the Military Police and as a Staff Sargent and Drill Instructor. Roland was a Real Estate Broker and Agent with multiple local agency’s, and the owner of the former Mashburn Realty Co. He was a member of First Christian Church, Johnson City, a Mason, Shriner, and former member of the Jericho Temple. In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Mashburn, in 2004, and a brother-in-law, Frank Hughes. He is survived by his son, Paul Mashburn, Johnson City; his sister, Gwen Hughes, Erwin; his brother, Kenneth Mashburn and wife Brenda, Erwin; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Private services for the family will be held at a later date. In-lieu-of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
