Robert E. "Bob" Hicks

Robert E. “Bob” Hicks, 73, Bluff City, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Holston Valley Medical Center, after a brief illness.Bob was a native and lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He was a son of Esther Louise Hickman and the late JD “Bud” Hicks.Bob attended New Life Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Bob enjoyed target shooting, hunting, fishing, and listening to music.In addition to his father, Bob was preceded in death by his step mother, Margaret Hicks, brother, Clyde Hicks.Survivors include daughters, Mary Booker and husband Jeff, Pam Steiger and husband Ron; son, Adam Cross and fiancé Amber; granddaughter, Emmily “Gracie” Cross, whom he adored; brothers, Marshall Hicks and wife Velma, Robert “Doc” Hicks and wife Loretta, Richard “Bo” Hicks and wife Charlotte; sisters, Shirley Kelly and husband Mark, Carol Hicks, Brenda Ball; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Ave. Johnson City, TN 37601.The graveside service will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, Bluff City. Military Honors will be performed by DAV Post 39. Pallbearers will be chosen from friends and family.In-lieu-of flowers the family asks donations be made to Woodall-Anderson & Dugger Funeral Home to help with Bob’s final expenses.Read Obituary
