Rev. Robert S. Hicks, 67, 555 Oak Grove Road, Johnson City passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a son of the late Fillmore and Evelyn Grace Mosier Hicks. Rev. Hicks was retired from Baxter Pharmaceuticals Corporation. He had served as Pastor at several churches including Beech Cliff Freewill Baptist, House of Prayer and served as Assistant Pastor for Princeton Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Hicks and two brothers, Allen Norris and Jackie Hicks. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Grindstaff Hicks of the home; two daughters, Angela Eades and husband, Tommy of Blountville and Susan Summie of Jonesborough; a sister, Peggy Cole and husband, Jackie of Gray; two brothers, Michael Hicks of Erwin and William Hicks and wife, Barbara of Alabama; a sister-in-law, Martha Hicks of Gray; five grandchildren, Brian Wheat, Jeremy Eades, Jessica, Hunter and Tristan Summie; two great-grandchildren, Cayden Summie and Carson Jenkins; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Rev. Hicks will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Gary Hodges and Rev. Alex Carver officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the Snyder's Memorial Gardens. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Paul Brown, Dr. Lamb and Dr. Lambert for the wonderful care they provided.
