Robert Harley Allen, 48, Erwin passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Unicoi County and was a son of the late Fred Morris Allen and Sara Miller Allen Shell. Robert had worked for CSX Railroad for 23 years before going to work for TDOT in the Road Department. He was a member of the Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church. Robert loved to run the sound at his church, photography and to fly-fish. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Floyd Shell and a brother, Rocky Allen.Survivors include his two daughters, Jessica Burleson and husband, Chris of Erwin and Samantha Allen of the home; a brother, Roger Allen of Erwin; a niece, Kayla Allen; nephews, Rhett and Ryan Allen; a sister-in-law, Karen Allen; special family friends, Rev. Eugene Penland and wife, JoAnn; also his very special puppies, Mia and Bella.Funeral services for Robert will be conducted at 6:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2019 at Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1600 N. Main Street, Erwin with Pastor Charles D. Byrd and Pastor Larry Dugger officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 until 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in McInturff Cemetery, Rock Creek. Active pallbearers will be Gabriel Wright, Chris Burleson, Larry Burleson, Gene Chandler, Todd Edwards, Terry Silvers and Scott Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond and Michael Tittle, Howard Biggs, CSX Carmen and his coworkers at TDOT.
