Rev. Richard Frank Sheets

Rev. Richard Frank Sheets, 82, of 236 Sheets Hollow Road, Johnson City passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the home of a daughter in Morganton, NC. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a son of the late Benjamin and Lula Greer Sheets. Rev. Sheets was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a HVAC Mechanic and was the founding Pastor and member of the Tabernacle of God Church in Johnson City. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce Edward Sheets and Richard John Sheets; a daughter, Wendy Diane Sheets; six sisters, Mae Chesser, Thelma and Selma Sheets, Irene Marlow, Frances Dugger and Dorothy Kawaski; three brothers, Charlie, Chelsea and B.H. Sheets. Rev. Sheets is survived by two daughters, Cindy Farmer and Danny Propst of Morganton, NC and Amy Elizabeth Belcher and husband, John of Jonesborough; three brothers, Kenneth Sheets and wife, Betty of Johnson City, George H. Sheets and wife, Mildred of Elizabethton and Glenn Sheets and wife, Lucy of Maryville, TN; three sisters, Betty Cox of Virginia, Brenda Pritchard of Johnson City and Mary Murray of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Audrey, John, Clayton, Lee, Carter and Chase; three great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Rev. Sheets will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the Tabernacle of God Church, Laurels Road, Johnson City with Rev. James Bennett and Rev. Doug Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheets family cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM to service time.
