Richard Arthur Gerwer Sr.

Mr. Richard Arthur Gerwer Sr., 74, 39 Veterans Way, Johnson City passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Jersey City, NJ but had lived in Johnson City for many years. Mr. Gerwer was a son of the late Edward Gerwer and Joanne Farmer. He was a truck driver and had retired from ETWNC after many years of service. Mr. Gerwer was a member of the Catholic Faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Gerwer and a grandson, Hunter Gerwer. He is survived by four children, Deborah Buchanan and her husband, John, Richard Gerwer Jr. and his wife, Amber, Nanette Newton and Jonathan Gerwer all of Johnson City; a brother, Jimmy Gerwer and a sister, Ginger Chupt both of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Whitney, Jacob, Caleb, Noah, Conner, Azuriah (A.J.) and Zoey; two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Olivia; special friend, Rusty; a friend and companion, his dog, Max. Graveside services for Mr. Gerwer will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, April11, 2013 in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Johnson City with Pastor Larry Dugger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM then proceed to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will also greet friends any time at the home of his daughter, Deborah, 2334 Eastside Ave., Johnson City.
