On March 23, 2014 God called Raymond Fields Jr., age 89 of Johnson City to his Heavenly home after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was a lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a son of the late Raymond and Cecelia Garland Fields. Mr. Fields was retired from Consumer Finance where he had worked in management. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Fields attended the First Christian Church of Johnson City. He was a member of the Johnson City Senior Center, the Elks Club # 1850 of Erwin and was a member of the Holiday Lanes Senior Bowling League. Mr. Fields was an avid golfer, bowler and loved to dance. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles R. Fields and two sisters, Virginia Smith and Thelma Fields Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Inge Schmiedecke Fields of the home; a son, John R. Fields and wife, Barbara of Utah; a sister, Clara M. Strickland of Johnson City; a grandson, Eric D. Fields and wife, Jennifer of California; a great-grandson, Declan Fields; a special niece, Linda Woods and husband, Larry of Johnson City; two step-daughters, Evelyn Howton and husband, Johnny of Florida and Julie Tardy and husband, Samuel of Johnson City; two step-sons, Thomas E. Woods of Florida and Michael Moore and wife, Sharon of Memphis; two step-granddaughters, Lauren Moore and Jenna Moriarty; two step-grandsons, Jacob Woods and wife, Amber and Jonathan Moore; two step-great-granddaughter, Carlee and Madelyn Woods; a special friend, Nivia Arnett; also several nieces and nephews.
