Ray Mallett, 80 of Johnson City passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Surgoinsville and was a son of the late Hugh Amos Mallett and Maude Crawford Mallett. He was retired from AFG Glass Inc. in Kingsport. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Vermillion and Bertha Mallett. Survivors include his wife, Betty Whitehead Mallett;  two daughters, Rhonda Smith and husband, Tony of Mississippi and Renee Mallett of Bristol; a son, Randall Mallet and wife, Becky of Kingsport; a brother, Jim Mallett of Surgoinsville; a half-sister, Florence Chestane and husband, Mitch of Bristol; step-children, Beverly Austin and Greg Bennett; grandchildren, Caleb and Noah Smith, Nicole, Heather and Kelly Mallett; several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Mallett will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, March 16, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with rev. Larry Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour. Interment will follow in the Barnett Cemetery, Johnson City. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends.  favorite_border Donations Pledges

We all loved him so very much  and I along with his other grand children (Heather, Nakita, Kelly,  Sabrina,  and Casey) will miss him very much. He was truly an amazing man.
