Ralph Payne, age 87, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Lakebridge Healthcare, Johnson City, following a brief illness. A native of Washington County, he was a son of the late Bruce and Debbie Collins Payne. Mr. Payne was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Payne; three sisters, Pearl Miller, Nola Walker and Wanda Blankenship. Survivors include his wife, Emma Sue Pate Payne, Johnson City; Grandchildren, Kevin Payne and wife Becky, and Janet Payne, Dominque Payne, all of Johnson City; great grandson, Aaron Payne, Johnson City; great great grandson, Weston Payne, Johnson City; nephew, David Miller and wife Robin, Johnson City; step children, Jessie Pate and wife Debbie, Donnie Pate, and wife Vickie, Ronald Pate and wife Gail, all of Johnson City and Karen Honeycutt, of Eastern Shores, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family visitation for Mr. Payne will be conducted on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Woodall-Anderson & Dugger Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough, TN. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
