Patricia Ann Arrowood

Patricia Ann Arrowood, 68, 671 Hwy 81 North, Jonesborough passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in the Lakebridge Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was a native of North Carolina but had lived in Washington County most of her life. Mrs. Arrowood was a daughter of Harry Labris and Irene Cody Rekus. She had worked for Comcast Cable Company in accounting for many years. Mrs. Arrowood was co-owner of the Telford Milling Company along with her husband in the late 1970's and early 1980". She had taught classes in ceramics and was an avid reader having read thousands of books in her lifetime. Mrs. Arrowood loved learning new things and believed continued education was imperative to a healthy mind. She was talented in areas of sewing, art and crafts and loved to quilt. She was talkative and loved telling stories and never met a stranger and loved to help others and often volunteered time to several organizations throughout the years. Mrs. Arrowood loved animals and over the years the Arrowood home became known as the wayward home for lost or homeless animals. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and Hoyt Jenkins and a step-father, Vincent Jenkins. Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Roy Arrowood; a daughter, Christina Miller of Jonesborough; a son, Wayne Arrowood and his wife, Denise of South Carolina; two grandsons, Matthew and Christopher Arrowood; a sister, Carma Carmen and her husband, Bobby of NC; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Moffitt and husband, Ray and Grace Bennett and husband, June all of Jonesborough; step-father, Felix Rekus of NC; also several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and an uncle. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Broyles officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Lakebridge Health Care Center of Johnson City for their excellent care they provided.
