Norman “Bud” Neal, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2020 at Courtyard Senior Living, Johnson City, Tennessee. He was a native of Johnson City and was a son of the late Lon and Louise Carter Neal. Bud enjoyed living part time in Melbourne Beach, Florida. He enjoyed fishing, car racing, football, walking on the beach, and garage sales. He served as an elder at Asbury Presbyterian church for many years and then a member of Westminster Church in Johnson City. Bud started building houses with his dad and brothers in the 1950s. Bud was most proud of his master craftsmanship in all aspects of home building and gaining his contractor’s license. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Patsy Ann Watson Neal in 2006; brother, Harold Neal; a sister, Betty Ginley; Survivors include his wife, Shirley Yelton Neal; a daughter, Stacie L. Davis and husband, Steve of Jonesborough; a son, Norman Neal Jr. of Johnson City; two brothers, Buford Neal and Tom Neal and wife, Nancy all of Johnson City; two sisters, Violet Bowman and Carolyn Presnell and husband, David all of Johnson City; his grandson, Noah Davis; his granddaughter, Afton Neal; also several nieces and nephews. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations set by the CDC of no more than 10 people gathering at a time, the family will have a graveside service 2:00 PM Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Courtyard Senior Living and Avalon Hospice for all their kind service and faithful care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest sending donations to Good Samaritan Ministries or Second Harvest Food Bank.
