Nancy E. Sparks, 86, of Erwin passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 in Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was a native of Dante, Virginia and was a daughter of the late James and Anna Ruth Taylor Davis. Mrs. Sparks had worked in retail for many years. She attended Maranatha Tabernacle and Fishery Union Church in Unicoi County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Sparks in 2013; also several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her children, Mike Sparks and Lisa Minnish of North Carolina, Steven Sparks and wife, Debbie of Jonesborough and Mary Williams and husband, Thomas of Erwin; a sister, Sally Austin of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Donnette Hahn, Shian Sparks, Eleana Pate, Heather Snapp (Steven), Tyler Williams, Rosa Lee Sparks, Jonathan Sparks, Jason Taylor and Chris Taylor; several great and great-great grandchildren including Kasen Taylor and Lyric Hahn; special friends, Sammy Routh and Gloria Casteel; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Sparks will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2020 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Nathan Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 31, 2020 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Bob and Freada Whitson, Hazel Weaver, Andrew Gunn, Victor and Judy Deloach and all of the employees of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, especially Kristy and Lisa, her nurses for all of the wonderful love, care and compassion they provided. Mike, Steve, Mary Sue - I was so sorry to hear about your momβs passing. Itβs a hard thing. My prayers and thoughts will be with all of your as you grieve the loss of your mother.
