Mrs. Myra Rachel Williams, 92, 100 E. Ninth Ave., Johnson City passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in the Lakebridge Health Care Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Charles and Rachel Walker. She was a graduate of Science Hill High School and had worked for Dosser's and King's Department Stores for many years. Mrs. Williams served as Miss Johnson City in 1936. She was a member of the Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Van Jack Williams Sr. and a grandson, Stephen Scott Wilson. Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Mary (Charlie) Wilson and her husband, Steve of Johnson City; a son, Van Jack Williams Jr. of Foley, Alabama; two grandsons, Van Wilson and his wife, Kathy of Charlotte, NC and Gregory Williams and his wife, Cindy of Florida; a granddaughter, Kelley Ohlsson and her husband, Jim of South Carolina; a special nephew, Dr. William Wiley and his wife, Pat; a special niece, Ellen Sells all of Johnson City; two special sisters-in-law, Patsy Day, South Carolina and Leah Osborn of Greeneville; best friend, Myra Moore of Johnson City; Committal services for Mrs. Williams will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor George Rolling officiating. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the cemetery Tuesday by 10:50 AM. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church, 610 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601.
