Maxine Plaster Alexander, 82, 506 Providence Road, Limestone passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late Cecil and Beatrice Arrowood Plaster. Maxine was retired from K-Mart after 27 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Johnson City Church of God where she had served as pianist for 31 years. Maxine also was the pianist for Oakland Avenue Baptist Church for a few years. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, nanny and friend. More than anything in her life she loved her Lord and Savior. No one could play a piano with such joy! Music was her life, and sharing her talents with everyone. In every song she sang was with all of her heart and whenever trouble came her way she always knew who to call upon on. To have known Maxine was a blessing! She had a sweet spirit and always had a kind word to share. Over the years she has sang with family and many groups of her love for the Lord. Maxine taught her children the love of God and to serve the Lord. She was a true servant for the Lord and now will receive her reward. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, C.H. Plaster and infant brother, O.C. Plaster; also the father of her children, Carroll Alexander. Survivors include four children, Jeffrey Alexander and wife, Wendy, Carson Alexander and wife, Angie, Rosemary Tucker and husband, Richard and Teresa Johnson all of Limestone, Tennessee; two sisters, Lena Hicks of Johnson City and Jackie Street of Gray; ten grandchildren, Denton, Austin, Jacob, Kayla, Landon Alexander, Manya Schlosser, Justin and Jordan Johnson, Kimberly Ford and Jessie Tucker; ten great-grandchildren, Peyton, Paisley, Lydia, Adalynn, Tatum, Liam, Megan, Gunner, Isaiah and Preston; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Maxine will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the Johnson City Church of God, Indian Ridge Road, Johnson City with Pastor Bryant Collins and Rev. Hobart Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Limestone. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. James Hanson and staff and to Dr. Randy Hoover and the staff at NHC Healthcare for the compassion and care they provided.
