Matthew Garrett "Bubba" Cannon, 28, 205 E. Chilhowie Avenue, Johnson City passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at his residence. He was a native of Huntington, West Virginia and had lived in Johnson City most of his life. Matthew was a student at Northeast State Community College and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City. He was a loving and caring son, brother and friend. Matthew enjoyed playing basketball, doing yard work, reading and talking politics. He loved studying the universe, history and religions. Matthew was always trying to find answers to all his questions. He loved his two Boston Terriers, Zeus and Kadee and enjoyed spending time with them. Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, R.L. and Peggy Cannon and an uncle, William "Joe" Davis. Survivors include his mother, Rebecca Davis Reece and husband, Fred of Johnson City; his father, Mark G. Cannon and wife, Robin of Villa Rica, GA; his brothers and sisters, Madison Cannon and Paige Elliott, Johnson City, Randy Reece and Sarah of Albany, NY, Hailee Reece of Johnson City and Ashley Pollard and husband, Justin of Villa Rica, GA; his maternal grandparents Jerry and Phyllis Davis of Johnson City; his uncles and aunts, Bob and Joni Davis, Rich and Mary Ann Davis, Christy and Dan Green and Josie Giles; special friends, Brian Bailey, Wyatt Breeding, Conor McKinnis and Alex Wiley. A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association Mid-South, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37220.
