Mark Hurst

Mark Randall "Randy" Hurst, 55, 2900 Chatham Drive, Johnson City passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was a native of Johnson City and was the son of Betty Waddell Street of Johnson City and Alan Ray Hurst of Knoxville. Mr. Hurst attended First United Methodist Church of Johnson City. He had worked in Lab and Research for the State of Tennessee Pathology Department, Coca-Cola, Atlanta GA and DuPont Inc. in North Carolina. Mr. Hurst was a volunteer for the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC. He loved the study of archaeology and spent many hours working with others in North Carolina. Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Fairis Waddell. Survivors in addition to his parents include a son, Jason Hurst of Lynchburg, VA; a sister, Simone Street of Atlanta; a nephew, Nicholas Fong of Atlanta; special friends, Carden Lamb of Johnson City and Bill Tester of Jonesborough. Graveside services for Mr. Hurst will be conducted at 2:30 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in the Monte Vista Memorial Gardens with Mr. Garland Thayer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM then go in procession to the cemetery.
