Lucille "Lucy" Garber Veach, 89, of Johnson City passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the Agape Nursing Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late Ray and Annabelle Keplinger Garber. Mrs. Veach had worked in food service for the Washington County Schools. She was a member of the Lynnwood Christian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Veach in 2009; two sisters, Patti Mae Garber and Beryl Baines; two brothers, Steve and Harry Garber; two grandsons, Timothy Overbay and Billy Duncan. Lucy loved taking care of her yard and planting flowers. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Dad's cats. She also loved to read and work puzzles and had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to cook. Survivors include a son, Bill Veach and his wife, Sue of Texas; two daughters, Carolyn Duncan and her husband, Bill of Johnson City and Peggy Overbay and her husband, Lynn of Utah; five grandchildren, Becky Duncan, Angie Marshall, Tony Overbay, Daniel Veach and Emily Straub; two sisters, Nancy Bunton of Johnson City and Donnie Wilhoit of Chuckey; two brothers, Danny Garber and Robert Garber both of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Veach will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, January 24, 2016 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Dr. William Duncan and Mr. Tony Overbay officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 25, 2016 in the Bethesda Cemetery, Cherokee Road, Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends.
