Lonnie David Watts Sr., 68 of 413 Crickett Private Drive, Piney Flats went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 10, 2015 at his residence. He was a native of Butler, TN and a son of the late James Paul and Susie Jane Fugate Watts. Mr. Watts retired as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army. Later retiring from Jacob Creek Job Corp after 18 years of service. He was a founding member of the Beyond the Cross Assembly Church in Piney Flats. Mr. Watts was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and son. He was a true man of God and a faithful follower and leader. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Robert Watts and Richard C. Watts. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Jean Perrigan Watts; a son, Lonnie David Watts Jr. and his wife, Pennie of Gray; a daughter, Jacqueline Stark and husband, Jim of Piney Flats; two grandchildren, Joseph Allen Kimball and his dad, Gregory Kimball and Jessica Ann Watts; two sisters, Caroline Sue Watts and husband, Stanley of Elizabethton and Sabilla Wilma Williams and husband, William "Bill" of Delaware; a brother, Samuel Clinton Watts and wife, Dorothy of Johnson City; two special brothers-in-law, Rodney Carroll Sheppard and wife, Kathy and Harold Dean Perrigan; also many nieces, nephews and countless friends. Funeral services for Mr. Watts will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, August 13, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with the Rev. Richard Blankenship, Rev. Paul Crowe and Rev. Rodney Sheppard officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Other times at the residence. Graveside service with full military honors accorded by Fort Campbell Honor Guard Detail will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2015 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. For those attending you are asked to meet at the funeral home Friday by 12:30 PM to go in procession to the cemetery.
