Lonnie Owens

Lonnie "Bud" Owens, age 68, of Limestone, TN, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the James H. Quillen, VA Medical Center, following a brief illness. A native of Greene County, he was a son of the late Willie and Mary Ann Teaster Owens. Mr. Owens was a U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a member of Mustard Seed Worship Center, Jonesborough and was a farmer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Brown and Louise Metcalf; one brother, Delmer Owens. Survivors include his wife, Violet Coggins Owens, Limestone; two sons, Randy Owens and Jimmy Owens, both of Telford; four grandchildren, Kayla Owens, Gray, DeAnna Owens, Christain Owens, and Peyton Owens, all of Telford; one great grandchild, Radiance Owens, Gray; two brothers, George Owens, Limestone, and Allen Owens, Greeneville; five sisters, Bonnie Metcalf, Greeneville, Nancy Collette and Lula Coggins, both of Limestone, Elizabeth Hux, Newport. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Owens will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in the chapel of Woodall-Anderson & Dugger Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Powers officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of the funeral home. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:45 A.M. Wednesday at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from Mr. Owen's nephews. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:35 A.M. Wednesday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the ICU of the James H. Quillen V.A Medical Center.
