I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; Leona Blanche Campbell, age 86, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the Christian Care Center after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was born February 20, 1929 in the Horse Creek community of Greene County and moved to Johnson City where she lived most of her life. Mrs. Campbell was a retired owner and operator of Wilson Grocery on Knob Creek Road in Johnson City. She also worked as head cashier at Wright's Supermarket, Little Store Supermarket and Cut Rate Supermarket. Mrs. Campbell played piano and organ for different area churches and the original Switchman Quartet. She was a member of the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cleo Wilhoit Jaynes; her husbands, Herman Wayland Campbell, William Doyle Fletcher and Harry Jackson Wilson; an infant brother, Clifford Jaynes; also several aunts, uncles and cousins. Survivors include a son, Conley Fletcher and his wife, Carolyn of Johnson City; a grandson, Michael Fletcher; a great-granddaughter, Andrea Price and a great-great-grandson, Fletcher Matthew Price all of Johnson City; a brother, Doyle Jaynes and his wife, Susan of Gray; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Campbell will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, September 14, 2015 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Bill Greer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Other times at her son's home, 821 Regency Drive, Johnson City. Graveside services will be held at 10:45 AM Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Fletcher, James Edward Wilhoit, Richard Wilhoit, Elmer and Jonathan Rush and other family and friends. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604 in her name. The family would like to give special thanks to the management and staff of the Christian Care Center for 8 years of taking care of mama.
