Mrs. Lena Rose Black, 94, 604 Hart Ave., Johnson City went home to be with Lord, Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Shep and Fannie Gobble Mitchell. Mrs. Black was a homemaker and was the longest living member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd (Tater) Black in 1976; a son, Floyd (Johnny) Black Jr.; three sisters, Madeline Mitchell, Helen Johnson and Hester White; two brothers, Junior and Chamler Mitchell; a great-grandson, Travis Weber; Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Little and her husband, Don of Johnson City and Betty Sheppard of Jonesborough; three grandsons, Tony Mark Black, Kenneth Sheppard and his wife, Ann and Shane Black; five granddaughters, Theresa Dickens, Lisa Graham and her husband, Todd, Michelle Reagan and her husband, Jeff, Celeste Black and her fiancee, David Hardin and Peggy Weber and her husband, Marc; eighteen great-grandchildren and three great- great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Black was conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, December 10, 2012 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Chatman and Rev. Mike Dickenson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Visitation: Monday December 10 2012 - 5:00 to 7:00 PM Services: Monday - 7:00 PM Interment: Tuesday - 11:00 AM Monte Vista Memorial ParkN
