Laura (Garland) Forbes

Laura Garland Forbes, 82, Johnson City passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Mitchell County, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Jake and Charlotte Cooper Garland. Mrs. Forbes had worked for ITT North Electric and retired from EZ Painter. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Forbes; two brothers, Bill Cooper and Dove Martin Garland; two sisters, Minnie Peterson and Maybell Southerland; also a granddaughter, Crystal Haren.Survivors include four daughters, Jackie Barnes and husband, Gary of Johnson City, Kathy Forbes of Alabama, Teresa Forbes and Sherry Forbes both of Johnson City; a sister, Sarah Ann Honeycutt of Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Michelle Cox, Amy Hyder, Scott Forbes, Ashley Forbes, Daniel Hylmon, Laura Forbes and Tristan Taylor; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.Graveside services for Mrs. Forbes will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, February 1, 2019 in the Fairview Cemetery, Hwy 81, Jonesborough. For those attending you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
