Josephine Blevins

Mrs. Josephine "Jo" Sindy Blevins, 90, 517 McCurry Road, Unicoi went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her residence. She was a native of Asheville, NC but had lived in Unicoi since 1940. Mrs. Blevins was the daughter of the late Grover and Lockie Willis Tilson. She had worked as a Home Care Giver for 30 years. Mrs. Blevins was a member of Maranatha Tabernacle in Unicoi and a charter member of Limestone Cove First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Limestone Cove Ruritan and had volunteered at the Center on Aging and Health for 9 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Maynard Blevins in 2002; an infant daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth Blevins; a brother, Columbus Tilson and a special daughter-in-law, Dottie. Survivors include her children, Charles Blevins and wife, Diane, Surgoinsville, Walter Blevins, Unicoi, Alice Miller and husband, Gurney, Unicoi, Wanda Schroder and husband, Charlie, Unicoi and her favorite son, her baby, Kenneth Spencer Blevins of the home; a brother, Clyde Tilson and wife, Lucille of Florida; seven grandchildren, Wally Blevins, Maria Benavides and husband, Roy, Chad Cooper, Wesley Blevins, Matthew Miller, Travis Blevins and Alison Hawks and husband, Andy; nine great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Gary and Robin King; special neighbor, Lloyd Garland; special friends, Delma Williams, Deltha Sharp, Thelma Bell, Florence Frances and Elsie Garland; also several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in the Maranatha Tabernacle, Unicoi with Pastor E.L. Wheeler, Rev. Eugene Penland and Rev. Estel Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 PM until the service hour and other times at the home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2013 in the Bell Cemetery, Unicoi. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the cemetery.
