Mrs. Jonnie Lou Cox, 68, #4 Midland Circle, Johnson City passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late John and Nannie Chambers Stott. Mrs. Cox retired from the Washington County School System where she had taught fourth grade at Jonesborough Elementary School. She was a member of the Clark Street Baptist Church where she served as treasurer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Conway C. Cox and a grandson, Hunter Tipton. Survivors include a daughter, Nannette Elizabeth Newton; a son, Jonathan Richard Gerwer; a sister, JoAnn E. Church and her husband, Harold; three grandchildren, A.J. Gerwer, Zoey Gerwer and Conner Triston Tipton all of Johnson City; nieces and nephews, Annette, Jack, John, Nan, Alex, Lincoln and Ryder Estes; an uncle, Bob Bailey of Texas; special friends, Joe Dorie, Dan Hughes, Phyllis Dugger and Judy Copeland; and all of her church family at Clark Street Baptist Church. The funeral service for Mrs. Cox will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, March 29, 2012 in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Beaver officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 PM until the service time. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 30, 2012 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. For those planning on attending this service you're asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
