Jo Earnestine (Ernie) Stewart

Mrs. Jo Earnestine (Ernie) Stewart, 65, 125 Laurel Hill Road, Jonesborough passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Elsie Barr Brown. Mrs. Stewart retired from the ETSU Internal Medicine where she had worked for many years as a medical secretary. She was an active member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church where she loved singing in the choir. Mrs. Stewart was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved baking and was wonderful at decorating cakes. She was a kind and giving person who enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Mrs. Stewart is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Joe Jimmie Stewart; a son, Clayton Stewart and his wife, Kasey of Elizabethton; a grandson, Zakery Stewart; three sisters, Cheryl Arrwood, Jonesborough, Cindy Carl and Paula Renee Brown both of Wisconsin; a brother, Monty Brown of Jonesborough; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Stewart will be conducted at 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the Bethesda United Methodist Church, Cherokee Road, Jonesborough with the Rev. Jake Herron officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 PM until the service hour and other times at the home of her sister, Cheryl Arrwood. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Keplinger, Larry Simerly, John Brown, Jerry Bailey, John Stewart, Ted Lyons and David Watkins. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home by 11:00 AM Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Local Down syndrome Society, P.O. Box, 5677, Johnson City, 37602.
