I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Jerry Lynn McNabb, age 65 of Erwin, Tennessee stepped into glory and reunited with his loved ones Sunday, November 1, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a native of Erwin, Tennessee. Mr. McNabb was part of the graduating class of 1968 at Unicoi County High School, where he earned numerous athletic awards. He continued his football career at East Tennessee State University from 1968 to 1971. Mr. McNabb worked most of his life doing construction and mill work. He enjoyed coaching youth basketball, hiking, fishing, listening to live music and following Unicoi County Athletics. Mr. McNabb was a faithful member of Maranatha Tabernacle of Unicoi, TN. He was a son of the late James and Ruth Davis McNabb. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Jackie and infant McNabb and a sister, Jill Wheeler. Jerry Lynn McNabb has left behind to cherish his memories; mother to his children and wife of 22 years, Sherrie McNabb of Erwin; daughters, Michelle McNabb of Erwin and Rachel McNabb Rice and husband, Drew of Erwin; sisters, Janet McNabb of Erwin and Jo Ann Peoples of Johnson City; brothers, Jeffery McNabb of Greeneville and Joey McNabb and wife, Dianna of Erwin; Nieces, Stacey Collins and husband, Jake of Unicoi and Jacqueline Wilson of Erwin; nephews, David Edwards Jr. and Ryan McNabb both of Erwin; also several great-nieces and nephews, several special friends, family and church family. A Celebration of Jerry's life and sending off ceremony will be at 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in the Maranatha Tabernacle in Unicoi, Tennessee with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Mr. McNabb's wishes are for everyone to wear happy colors, for this is a time to celebrate life. There will not be a committal service due to Mr. McNabb being cremated. His wishes are for his family to spread his ashes. The family asks in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mountain States Hospice Group in remembrance of Jerry. The family would also like to thank the staff of Johnson City Medical Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Facility and MSHA Hospice.
