Janis D. Killen, 65, 139 Christa Drive, Johnson City passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her residence. She was a lifelong native of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Alfred and Rena Danner Helvey. Janis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, known as" Mama J" to many. She was an excellent seamstress, providing her children and grandchildren with many clothes and costumes throughout the years. Survivors include her husband, David W. Killen of the home; two daughters, Megan Killen of Kingsport and Laura Fields of Johnson City; a son, Eddie Baird and Sarah Albritton of Johnson City; three step-daughters, Tina Casto, Susie Killen and Jannie Finch all of Florida; a step-son, Willie Killen of Johnson City; a sister, Wanda Groome of Florida; her best friend, Kathy Ray of Johnson City; also thirteen grandchildren. Graveside services for Janis will be conducted at 11:30 AM Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Howard Ray officiating. Everyone attending is asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.
