Janice Lee Gordon Sheets, age 66 of Johnson City, passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, June 29, at her residence with her loving family gathered by her side. A native of Danville, Virginia, she was a daughter of David Lee Gordon and Dorothy Kinney Mitchell, both of St. Louis, Missouri. She was a United States Navy Veteran serving in Pearl Harbor following the Vietnam War. Mrs. Sheets loved to quilt and work in her garden.Mrs. Sheets is preceded in death by two brothers, David Lee Gordon and Mark Gordon.In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Michael Sheets, Johnson City; daughter, Kelley Quillen and husband Justin, Kingsport; step-daughter, Jennifer Sheets; step-son, Jason Sheets, and wife Katie, all of Johnson City; siblings, Jimmy Gordon, Ginger Davis, John Gordon, Allen Gordon, Keith Gordon, and Patty Gordon, all of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Adriana Jones and husband John and Nikki Wishon, all of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.A Memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County/ Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37601. Rip Janice, I can still remember your infectious smile coming down the stairs so happy and beautiful. I'm so grateful for your service to our country. I'm a proud cousin.
