James Moore, 68, of Johnson City passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at his residence. He was a native of Baltimore, Maryland and was a son of the late Ford Earl Moore and Lorraine Rita Mary Steiner Moore. James retired from East Tennessee State University. He attended Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City. James loved bowling, wrestling, collecting coins and sports hats. He enjoyed all sports especially football. He enjoyed going to the gym and raising a garden each year.   Survivors include his loving wife, Robin Rhymer Moore of the home;  a daughter, Jessica Moore of the home; step-son, Scotty Haws and wife, Lori; two sisters, Bernadine Ray and Mary Moore both of Johnson City; three brothers, Joe, Elmer and Carl Moore all of Johnson City; special nephew, Daniel Moore; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for James will be conducted at 1:30 PM Friday, December 8, 2017 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Mike Abel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the service hour. Internment will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Scotty Haws, Jessica Moore, Cassidy Whitson, Austin Stanton, Nick Rambo, Jimmy Stanton and Daniel Moore.

Everyone at the ETSU Medical Library was very sad to hear of James' passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Robin and his entire family.
