James F. Lane, 61, 2004 Circle Court, Johnson City passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a native of Pulaski, VA and had lived in Johnson City most of his life. Mr. Lane was a son of the late Jessie and Nellie Taylor Lane. He was a self-employed building contractor and attended the Way to Calvary Church in Johnson City. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Brewer Lane; a daughter, Angela Vance; a brother, Roy Lane and a sister-in-law, Daisy Lane. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Scalf Lane; two daughters, Abigail Marie Lane and Mary Lea Dugger both of Johnson City; two sons, Terry Allen Lane and his wife, Kathy and Billy Osborne all of Johnson City; four brothers, Harry Lane, Johnson City, Stanley Lane, Charlotte, NC, George and Jerry Lane both of Virginia; two sisters, Essie Lephew, Johnson City and Francis "Sissy" Hale, Virginia; a step-daughter, Ashley Stevens; a step-grandson, Timothy Stevens; three granddaughters, Amber Vance, LeAnna Vance and Lilly Dugger; two grandsons, Dean and B.J. Whitson; two great-granddaughters, Jazzy Hallmark and Hailea Whitson; a great-grandson, Nicholas Whitson; two special son-in-laws, Timmy Dugger and James Vance; a special sister-in-law, Sharon White; a special friend, Tammy Tanner; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Lane will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in the Washington County Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Keith Ingram officiating. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Ave. Johnson City Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 12:00 until 1:30 PM then proceed to the cemetery for the service. Pallbearers will be Eddie Brewer, Billy Osborne, B.J. Whitson, Nathan White, Buddy Lane, Bryan Osborne, Josh Scalf and Lee White.
