James Bryan Austin, 58, 3133 Rocky Top Road, Apt. 501, Johnson City went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center with his family by his side. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a son of Dolores Cretsinger Austin of Johnson City and the late Billy Jack Austin. Bryan had worked for Cox Oldsmobile and S.B. White Company before his illness. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, NASCAR, dirt track racing, fishing and gospel music. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Beverly Bennett Austin of the home; a daughter, Shonda Andrews and husband, John of Elizabethton; five brothers, Kyle Earp and wife, Brenda of Johnson City, Jackie Austin of Jonesborough, Denny Austin and wife, Debbie, Terry Austin and wife, Molly and Vince Austin all of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Kayla, Elijah and Avril Andrews; his mother-in-law, Betty Mallett of Johnson City; also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Bryan will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2014 in the Chapel of Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with Pastor David Dugger officiating. Interment will follow in the Elliott Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his brothers, Kyle, Jackie, Denny, Terry, Vince, John Andrews and Greg Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Turner, Allen Robinson, Jimmy Cox, Donnie Sealy, Darrell Cretsinger and Pastor Larry Campbell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to the funeral home to help with the funeral expense. The family would like to give special thanks to Will and Eleanor Andrews, the JCIM Doctors, Mountain States Hospice and all the staff on the 5400 wing of the Johnson City Medical Center for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided.
